Development of Clare United Methodist Church Childcare Center and Preschool.
When the Clare United Methodist Church build a new parsonage, the discussion among the congregation was "what is to be done with the former parsonage that is located between the Church and the Education Buildings?". Ultimately the Church agreed to try a Christian Childcare Center. In May 1997, the Center was opened with Ethel Whitford as the director.
After serving as the Director for three years, Ethel decided to retire in June 2000, with Melonie Kingsbury being selected as the new Director. At the time, Melonie was completing her coursework for her bachelor's degree in childhood development. Previously, Melonie received an associate degree in business management and was running her own home daycare.
Our Childcare Center and Preschool provides Christian education in a developmentally and age-appropriate curriculum specifically designed for the young children. Our entire program and daily operation are based upon a warm and loving Christian home-based atmosphere.
The Center has steadily increased in enrollment in 2008 the Center started discussions with the church to develop a new Childcare Center and Preschool building. In 2011, the Church congregation agreed by majority vote to build our current facility and dozens of members pledged their time, talents, prayers, and finances in order to make our current facility a reality.
